MUMS Lunchtime Concert: Two
This lunchtime concert features two fabulous pianists, Kuba Williams and Ameen Elbadri, who will be playing two different works arranged for two pianos. The concert will open with Frederic Rzewski's 'Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues', arranged by the composer, a work which uses the piano to imitate the mechanical hammering of a cotton mill. This will be followed by Stravinsky's revolutionary ballet 'The Rite of Spring', also arranged by the composer with rearrangements made by the performers. Cast in two contrasting parts, Stravinsky portrays Russian folk music and pagan rituals with an ultimately violent end.
This fantastic concert has been months in the making, and you certainly won’t regret it if you come along! Entry is completely free and we can’t wait to see you there!
